Expanding and Refining First-Year Learning Communities at Pitt-Greensburg
Abstract
The First-Year Learning Communities project was funded by the Personalized Education Grant. In this project (currently underway), six Pitt-Greensburg faculty worked together to create two learning communities composed of two student cohorts. Each cohort was enrolled in three linked courses in the fall 2019 semester. As instructors of the courses, we have recognized areas where connections were missed, and have reflected and discussed missed opportunities throughout the semester. Thus, we are applying for a second round of funding to continue the project by refining the two current learning communities and expanding the project to include a third learning community.
